Our Philosophy
The Flandrien Hotel was created based on our conviction that bike riders need a place where they can follow their passion while reflecting upon their careers, getting fresh food for thought, and connecting with other inspired people. This is what we call the “home away from home” Flandrien Hotel experience.
We should also mention that we do not turn away any non-cycling guests wishing to stay with us, but our experience is very much tailored for bikers. So if you don’t love cycling before you arrive, you will by the time you leave!
The Clubhouse is your cosy home away from home where you can watch cycling events on the big screen while enjoying a selection of Belgian beers, hot and cold drinks and appetizers. We have a retail area with apparel from Bioracer and Çois Cycling and essentials like Co2 cylinders and inner tubes.
The Clubhouse is usually open to the public on weekends – check the bottom of the website for opening hours. You can drop in for a snack or a drink during these times, even if you are not staying with us.
Our in-house menus are guided by current best practices in the professional peloton, inspired by dietary gurus such as Nigel Mitchell who has held positions with British Cycling, Sky/INEOS and EF Pro Cycling. We offer special menus for vegan and vegetarians – just let us know of your requirements when you make your booking.
Breakfast is served for our guests between 7.30 am and 9.30 am and dinner is available from 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm.
Inside the Clubhouse you will find the Allan Peiper bar, different sized dining tables, a stylish lounge space, big TV screening live cycling events and special showings of classic editions of De Ronde, and of course free WiFi.
There is also a large cobbled terrace outside to enjoy during the warmer months.
We have a wide selection of Belgian beers, South African wines and non alcoholic beverages.
Our Bed & Breakfast packages provide exceptional value. We also provide you with free coffee and tea throughout your stay. Dinner can be prepared upon request, and we provide a free shuttle service to the restaurants in nearby Geraardsbergen.
Guests planning to do the three-day Flandrien Challenge typically check in on Thursday evening and depart on Sunday. Short-stay weekend guests check in on Friday and depart on Sunday.
Please Note: We require a minimum two night stay during peak periods.
The “Oude Kwaremont” is a garden view room to accommodate four guests. Twin beds in main room and bunk bed in adjoining room with ensuite bathroom and walk-in shower.
The “Bosberg” is a large twin room with possibility of an additional bed. The room is spacious and airy with scandinavian design furniture, ensuite bathroom with shower and large bathtub.
The “Molenberg” is a large and spacious ground floor garden view room with three beds, sofa and large adjacent bathroom. There is ample storage space for your luggage.
As a home away from home for cyclists we offer essential services such as bike storage, free self-service washing machine & dryer, indoor trainers, airport pickup and transfers to the historical centres of Geraardsbergen & Oudenaarde. And no stress if you have a mechanical mishap on your ride – we provide an SOS pickup service and loaner bikes to get you back onto the cobbles as soon as possible.
We guarantee that you will on the road and cycling within an hour of arrival. We have a fully equipped Service Course for bike repairs, with free access to the workshop for guests who prefer to do their own service. We stock essential spares such as Di2 chargers, quick release & disc skewers, Co2 cannisters, spare inner tubes and replacement brake pads.
Most of our guests bring their own bicycles, but we can help to arrange bicycle rental via our local partner in Oudenaarde.
In case of emergencies, we can provide an on-the-spot loaner from our in-house stock of road bikes in sizes 48-60cm. So you won’t need to waste precious riding time if your bike is out of action.
We also have a limited stock of spare rim-brake and disc brake wheels in case you damage your own – which can happen when you are riding the cobblestone roads of the region.
Our Packages
As passionate cyclists ourselves, we understand the needs of people who are travelling to experience the wonders of cycling in Flanders. We want to make your stay as carefree as possible so that you can maximise your time on the bike and in exploring the surrounding region and historical towns.
Our Bed & Breakfast packages provide exceptional value when you take into account that many of the “extras” charged by other hotels are included. There is nothing extra to pay if you would like an espresso or cup of tea and a refill of your water bottles at anytime during the day.
You will have free self-service access to a washing machine and dryer. We do not charge for luggage storage or WiFi access.
What is not included?
Check-in Time
We are ready to welcome you to Flandrien Hotel from 4pm on the day of your arrival. You can check-in online before your stay, and we will greet you in the Clubhouse for a welcome drink upon arrival. Want to arrive earlier in the day to take a ride – no problem, as we can store your luggage until your room is available.
Check-out Time
One of the biggest headaches for cyclists is the early check-out times at most hotels. Just when you want to be out on the road on your bike, hotels expect you to be packed and ready to leave your room. Our standard check-out time is 3 pm so you can have a shower and light meal after your ride – and still have time to make it to the airport for evening departure flights.
Bike & Luggage Storage
Need to store your precious bike, bike box or extra luggage? No stress, we have secure storage for your belongings during your stay. You can also store stuff with us for short periods if on tour to other parts of Belgium or Europe – just remember to come back to collect your belongings!
Parking
We have parking available on site for up to ten guest vehicles, with additional parking available in the streets surrounding the property.
Camping Places – Cyclo Tourists
We always have a few spaces in our garden for long-distance cyclo tourists who would like to camp a night or two.
Please feel free to contact us, we will look at the possibilities together with you.
